Light Bath - A Spa for the Soul
Written by Sherry Kauppi

Ouch! Uncle! and Throwing in White Towels

When being tough is just not fun any more, when stress and change are the exhausting constants in your life, when the glory has gone out of the struggle, when fear and fatigue are off the charts, when your heart is broken –really broken, when you are drowning in disappointment, even in those kinds of terrible times there is relief. Love, healing and good things are available to each and every one of us. "Oh relief! Please do come now, right now. Today!" When that comes up in your prayers, your thoughts and your chanting, there is an answer to the call. There can be one sweet relief that comes when you call it. The many, many hardships that make our lives so "interesting," can be put on pause, can be lightened up, can even be dissolved away by a lovely and very handy personal procedure.

The pitch, so what is so good about it?

This is a personal account of one of my favorite ways to reinvigorate my tired old body, restart a new and improved attitude and get some good jazz going in my life again. I perform this technique often. Since I believe we are here to engage ourselves with challenging circumstances, we are hard wired for trouble, I have a deal with the Universe to bring me interesting ones. Boy howdy, the Universe sure delivers. I have many colorful and wild problems of my own and I get involved with many others in my work in a complaint department. So I find I need healing methods every day. I need coping strategies and remedies on hand 24-7.

The method I want to talk about is easy, portable and does not cost a penny. So there are appealing features in the simplicity of it. What is not there is just as much a value as what is there. No outfits, no gizmos and no postures with this one--No breathing, no gym and no sweat. However, it is best if you have some quiet and time and space, but they are not requirements. At first it is best to refrain from conversation during the session. Later you may want to experiment with engaging in activities while you are under the influence of the light. However, it begins as an immersion sensation so being unplugged for a time is best. After getting the hang of it, you can have activity around you while you slip into a treatment. And after that becomes common place you can be active yourself while being in the light bath.

The practice, Slip into a Tub Filled with Divine Perfection.

To begin, get comfortable lying down or sitting in a favorite spot. Disconnect the phone if possible. The body will go into deep relaxation mode as the mind goes into processing the sensations of the practice. The mind does not have to analyze or track anything. But it is a pleasure to pickup and feel the saturation of goodness. It is a joy to notice that stress and strain are being replaced with joy and appreciation. If you like guided meditations, you may want to make a tape for yourself. However, the mind has only one assignment. Imagine the setting and see what you feel.

Imagine that your body is being set into a lovely chamber that is filled with absolute pure and perfect light. The chamber is not big. It might feel like a cocoon, a safe sleeping bag sized vessel that is tailored for your comfort. You may envision a deluxe tanning bed that has transformational properties. Imagine that your total being is easing itself into the tub, the whole body and the whole head. The bath is a lovely place, very comfortable. It fits you perfectly. It is safe. All physical effects around you are soaked in pure light, pure joy, pure essence. Any aches and pains get saturated in this light. Your smallest parts, like toes and eyelashes, they get completely immersed as well. Your whole self gets the full treatment, the full benefit, the full essence of the light. It is divine light that is perfectly suited to your soul’s needs and your body’s needs. This sensation lasts for only the minutes that your body is sinking in. Once your mind slips into the light, the thoughts seem to dissolve as well. And you now are merged with the light. You are it. It is you. You cannot tell where you begin or end. You are only essence and all that is possible, is all possible again. This can last minutes or longer. It is renewal. The veil between you and the cosmic light is dissolved away and the wonderful personality that you have developed so far on this planet is given some time off. You get a total rest even from the character that you are.

The light may have color if that appeals to you. Pink is great for healing. Green is also a powerful specialty for healing. But you don’t have to use color or know about what properties are associated with them. If a color feels good, then soak in it. If it doesn’t appeal to you at this time, then try another color. Or stick to a brilliant white liquid perfect universal light. As long as it is gentle and pure, you are in good hands. God’s hand.

Eavesdropping on the Spirits

Let me tell you how I came upon this process. In the late 1990’s, I was channeling for a woman in lower Michigan. She wanted to talk to her brother who had died recently, after a long struggle with cancer. While he was going through the awful degradation connected to his illness, she had tended to him. It had been a hand full of months since he passed and she was still missing him terribly. So we connected with the guides and asked him to come to speak to us. This was a rare time when our guides said he was not available. Well, he was not supposed to be available. They said he was in the "light bath." However, on that day, they made a big deal out of the fact that he would be coming out of the bath and he would be coming to see her anyway. Since the visit would help tremendously with his healing as well as hers, they were making this exception and they brought him to us. The visit, or session, went ahead in a warm wonderful reunion between brother and sister. It was very touching to all of us.

A light bath, what’s that? The guides then described that when a person has crossed over after much suffering and deterioration or some long term and terrible consuming disease, it is part of the transition to give them uninterrupted time in a bath of light. They completely soak for some indefinite time in this pure light, original source light, Divine Light. It soaks the soul. It soaks the cells. It brings back wholeness and health to the spirit. The core being who has just returned form a rousing romp around planet Earth gets some much needed TLC. With this treatment, the return to the worlds of light proceeds much smoother for the recently departed from our side. Basically, the bath treatment restores them to their true spiritual selves. Their true lineage with the light, their heritage of Divinity is renewed. Once treated with this healing, then they are more prepared to work with the beings on their side who help with the transition of humans who are crossing over. They can handle the reunions. They can be enriched by the reviews. And they can be restored to their core loving beings. They are more whole. Decisions that are ahead of them make sense and become aligned with the Will, the Akashic Records, and the impulses of love to create and serve each other. After this was explained to us, the sister felt great comfort in knowing that her brother was getting such perfectly designed intensive care. We all felt better. We all know of many persons who have suffered so much before dying. We hope they had light baths too. What a sweet idea to comfort those who grieve.

Once the bubbub of the session was over, I thought about this phenomenon som more. This sounded like a miraculous spa for the soul. Hmmm. Inquiring minds want to know, I couldn’t leave that idea alone. I asked, if the loving and brave souls get this special treatment over there for having gone through severe conditions, is there some way to reproduce that healing experience here while we are in the tangles and heat of it all? It seemed like it would be great for those of us who are still deep in the active (and hyper-active) troubles of our lives. Can we get some of this now, before going to our heavenly home?

Ask and …well, you get more than that. The experiments with light baths began right away. I found it to be fun and effortless to imagine the light bath and to ease myself into it. While in that state, I felt good. I felt like I understood my inheritance. I felt completely real and a part of the pure light. I was without a physical form while I was in there. Then once I was able to make it happen, it became all about sensation and not much thinking at all. I was just in a suspended state of saturation of pure goodness. From the marrow to the outreach of my aura all got the serenity and revival of the soaking. It could be two minutes or ten.

I began using this technique before going to sleep, while in the safety of my quiet and private bed. Then I began using this technique in the morning before going to the office, before taking on the strains of the day. And then I expanded the use even more. I practiced the soaking in the light bath while sitting at my desk, before going in to tough and thorny meetings. I used it while sitting in the drivers’ seat of my car before mingling with the masses at Wal Mart. I found it was do-able in the very un-private parking lot. How handy this was going to be!

Several benefits became evident. The first good juju I found was feeling some pure energy. This was in contrast to the stress-based pacing and fidgetting that often passes for energy in a caffeinated world where speed is king and production is the measure of one’s worth. Then I found I felt reconnected to some vital source, a loving center to which I belonged. It was a home for those without form. I could come and go. I was welcome there in the Light while at the same time I was welcome in this wild old solid and sordid world of human life too. As a result, I seemed to develop more confidence. This was another worthwhile benefit. I could better trust that the event I was walking into, regardless of how tense or unseemly, was going to be a positive experience after all. If I bring in the light with me, any event would produce some larger good, a boost of positive for some one, some where, some how. So courage was available to me, even for things I dreaded. I sank into the light bath, and then, revived from the inside to the out, I went out into the actions, the games and the plays that were ahead of me.

Adaptations, Soaking Where I Sit. I began taking the Light soak on the road—to work, to the store, and in the company of others who are trying so hard to do right in this life. I take it to my leaders. I take it to my workplace. I take it places by filling up and then attending to the world around me. I don’t tell anyone. I also can sit in meetings and by using the powers of intention and imagination, I ease into the Light any time, even after I have arrived and the meeting has begun. Then I hold this precious loving healing Light. Hold it right in the room, in the company of all others who are sitting with me. I simply hold it, without their awareness, but hopefully with their well-being getting a share of the benefits too.

I am getting more agile at bopping between the two conditions, from a mindless light bath experience and then back to the engagement with others in the room. I can access the light and have a conversation with the great character, or face a fascinating trouble or probe the psyche of a precious person in front of me. It takes only a little practice. Any intention to share our gifts usually gets a lot of support from the spirit helpers who work with us. So, sharing becomes easier and easier.

As you can see, one of my favorite practices is still evolving. As we all work with light, we all get better at finding more uses for it. How fun is that?! So go soak your head, and all your parts, in the Light Bath of the angels and heavenly bodies. See if it helps you in your "interesting," your challenging, hurtful and hopeful, life of stories too. Namaste.
